As one approaches Livingzone270 from the main sidewalk the path narrows with planes of horizontal concrete, bamboo planters to the right and a turn of the century stone home on your left. The path compresses and then releases one into a modern white building. The buildings hallways vibrate with the penetration of plywood boxes from frosted glazed walls. The plywood boxes act as a core for the functions of living. The core runs from the hallway through the living unit and then punctures the skin of the back surface. The core is freed from the perimeter and rear walls through an engagement of frosted, clear, and blue glazing. The glazing along with the ceiling mass pulled away from the core in specific areas enhances spacial depth and necessary lighting in the 535 square foot space. The core is subtracted to provide Cleansing, Resting, and Nourishment areas in front of the mass and accommodates a micro-office and storage in the rear. The cores cleansing zone is supplied with rainwater which provides 100% of the necessary water needs for the toilets and laundry functions. The plywood core is enhanced with a built-in bed, nightstands, and cabinets. With the addition of custom concrete sinks & countertops the units create a minimalist aesthetic.
